GOD FIGHTS FOR HIS PEOPLE

God fights for His children

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14

Life is filled with battles— some we see, others we don’t. Whether we face personal struggles, spiritual attacks, or overwhelming obstacles, one truth remains: God fights for His people. Let us explore the different ways in which God fights for His people.

  • God fights with His power

God’s supreme power is one of the most significant ways He fights for His children. In times of trouble, His power is revealed, providing victory over enemies and obstacles. Consider the story of the Israelites at the Red Sea. When they were trapped with no escape, God parted the waters, allowing them to cross to safety (Exo 14:21-22).

  • God fights with His presence

Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.” When the Egyptians pursued the Israelites, God’s presence in the form of a pillar of cloud and fire protected them, confusing their enemies (Exo 14:19-24). When God is with His people, no force can stand against them. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psa‬ ‭46‬:‭1‬).

  • God fights through His angels

God sends His heavenly army to fight on behalf of His children. Psalm 91:11 says, “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.” During King Hezekiah’s reign, God sent an angel to defeat 185,000 enemy soldiers, saving Jerusalem (2 Kings 19:35). “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them” (Psa 34‬:‭7‬).

  • God fights through His people

At times, God calls His people to be instruments of His victory. He equips, empowers, and sends His people to stand firm, lead, and act in faith. In 1 Samuel 17:45-47, God used David, a young shepherd, to fight Goliath. Although David was small and the odds were against him, he had faith in God. With only a sling and a stone, David defeated the giant.

  • God fights through His word

God’s Word is a powerful weapon against the enemy and a source of strength in spiritual battles. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword”In Matthew 4:1-11, when Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, He fought back using the Word of God.

  • God fights in unusual ways

God fights for His people in ways that often defy human logic and understanding. Isaiah 55:8 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” In Judges 7:16-22, God used Gideon and 300 men to defeat the Midianites in an unexpected way. Instead of conventional weapons, God instructed them to break jars and blow trumpets in the middle of the night. The noise and confusion caused the Midianite army to panic, turn on each other, and flee.

  • God fights through the Holy Spirit

In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised that believers will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon us. The Holy Spirit equips and strengthens us to overcome spiritual battles, bringing guidance, comfort, and power to fight against sin and the enemy. Through the Holy Spirit, God provides the strength and wisdom needed to walk in victory.

  • God fights through Christ’s victory

The ultimate victory God gives His people is through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor 15:57). “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross” (Col 2:15). Through Christ’s death and resurrection, He defeated sin, death, and all powers of darkness. “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” (Col 1:13-14).

God continues to fight for His people, leading them through every challenge. Whether through His power, presence, angels, or His people, He is always at work on our behalf. Ultimately, our greatest victory is found in Jesus Christ, who secures our eternal salvation. With God fighting for us, we can face life’s trials with confidence.
