“In Christ lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”
Colossians 2:3
In a world where information is easily accessible, the quest for true wisdom and knowledge remains as pertinent as ever. Apostle Paul reveals that the completeness of true wisdom and knowledge can only be found in Christ. Believers have been given God’s divine wisdom as an inheritance in Christ Jesus to guide us in all aspects of life.
DIVINE WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE
God’s divine wisdom is pure, peace-loving, gentle, and sincere (Jam 3:17). It provides understanding, clarity, and direction, aligning us with His will and leading to a fulfilled life. It is evidenced by leading an honorable life and doing good works with humility (Jam 3:13). In contrast, worldly wisdom comes from man. It enables man to perceive life from his own perspective and make decisions based on his own interests. Worldly wisdom breeds jealousy, selfish ambition, boasting, and deceit in one’s heart, characterized as earthly, unspiritual and demonic (Jam 3:14-15).
HIDDEN IN CHRIST
True and complete wisdom and knowledge are found only in Christ. While many seek wisdom in books and the internet, these sources are limited. Jesus Christ is the ultimate source of wisdom and knowledge, providing all that we need for understanding and living a godly life. In Him, we find the fullness of divine wisdom and knowledge, with nothing lacking.
Proverbs 3:13-15 states, “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” This scripture reveals that wisdom is of great value and worth, hence it is hidden. It cannot be discovered through man’s wisdom. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are mysteries that are being revealed to believers through their relationship with Christ. These treasures are preserved in Christ, waiting to be discovered by those who are in Him. God reveals His mysteries to those who seek Him wholeheartedly (Eph 1:9).
HOW TO ACCESS BOTH TREASURES
- Fear God: The first step to accessing divine wisdom is to fear the Lord. Proverbs 9:10 states, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”.
- The Holy Spirit: Every believer can access the wisdom of God through the Holy Spirit who dwells within us (1 Cor 2:12). This wisdom surpasses all human understanding and helps us to align with God’s will.
- The Bible: We gain divine wisdom by studying and meditating on God’s Word. The Bible is filled with divine wisdom— providing guidance, instruction, and insight for every aspect of life (Psa 119:105).
- Prayer: We should pursue God’s wisdom every day through prayer. “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (Jam 1:5).
All believers have access to God’s divine wisdom through our relationship with Him. Our commitment to walking in God’s wisdom not only transforms our lives but also serves as a beacon of light and hope in a world searching for true direction.
